JOB PURPOSE:
The Programme Associate supports the implementation of climate-change adaptive food systems actions in Mozambique and supports day-to-day engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
Under the overall guidance of the Head of the Climate and Resilience team in the Programme Unit, the Programme Associate will ensure that the necessary support is provided for actions to be designed and implemented effectively and efficiently through the following tasks/duties:
General:
1. Assist in coordination of on-going initiatives, including preparation of technical documents, consolidation of inputs, and timely contribution to reports and knowledge products.
2. Liaise with WFP supporting units (e.g., finance, supply chain, M&E, IT) to secure inputs required for project design and implementation.
3. Participate in field missions and coordinate follow-up missions, providing technical assistance at field level as needed.
4. Support the team in provision of technical guidance and assistance to implementing partners and local institutions, ensuring clarity on deliverables, timelines, and standards.
5. Support the design of Concept Notes and related materials for resource mobilization and partnership development.
6. Engage in multidisciplinary discussions with relevant WFP Units to shape integrated actions and ensure alignment with country strategies.
7. Attend regular planning and coordination meetings within the programmatic unit and track agreed actions.
8. Perform other related duties as required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:
▪ Minimum of two years’ experience in supporting food security programmes.
▪ Relevant work experience in Mozambique.
▪ Experience working with WFP projects.
▪ Experience in project management supporting services.
STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of secondary school education and a post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. A university degree is considered as a plus.
Experience: Six or more years of progressively responsible work experience in resilience or other related field with experience in general administrative work.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Portuguese and English languages.
