FUNCTION

Reporting to the Senior Territorial Development Manager and the Social Performance Director, the main activities of the job are to: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with civil society organizations (CSOs), including CBOs, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders; provide technical support and capacity-building assistance to CSOs and NGOs to strengthen their ability to effectively implement project activities; support knowledge-sharing and the documentation of project learnings, successes, and challenges; coordinate the implementation of the social performance strategy by engaging with CSOs, ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations; facilitate inclusive and transparent stakeholder engagement processes involving CSOs, local communities, and government entities, fostering trust and collaboration; assist in the rollout of project social management plans, ensuring ethical implementation and compliance with Mozambican regulations and international standards (e.g., IFC and Equator Principles); maintain and regularly update a comprehensive CSO mapping and profiling database, identifying key actors, areas of influence, thematic focus, and engagement potential; monitor and contribute to the identification of societal risks, supporting the development and execution of mitigation strategies in coordination with relevant internal teams; prepare timely and insightful reports on CSO engagement activities, highlighting trends, concerns, and opportunities for improved collaboration; representing the company in external meetings, forums, and consultations with CSOs, acting as a key liaison to promote constructive dialogue and mutual understanding; ensure all CSO engagement activities are accurately and fully documented, traceable, updated, and stored in the company’s information management system, ensuring timely reporting and accessibility for internal use; provide technical support and advisory inputs to other departments to integrate CSO perspectives into project planning, implementation and monitoring; maintain continuous situational awareness of the CSO landscape, including evolving regulation, new partnerships, and emerging issues that may affect project operations; provide technical support and capacity-building assistance to CSOs and NGOs to strengthen their ability in areas as governance, advocacy, social accountability in extractive industry context; maintain regular engagements and close working relationship with human rights and VPSHR team with view to align/support implementation of relevant project human rights initiatives at the level of CSOs.

Requisitos

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development studies, or Political science;
  • Minimum of 05 years of relevant experience in community development, CSO engagement, stakeholder management or social performance within extractives or development sectors;
  • Experience in community development, social impact assessment, CSO management in extractive industry context or related fields (minimum of 05 years is preferred);
  • Familiarity with international standards (IFC, World Bank, AfDB) and Mozambican CSO context and regulatory framework;
  • Excellent communication (Both English and Portuguese), negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in complex, multicultural, and challenging environments;
  • Residing in the local area of the job will be an advantage.
