Our client in Nacala is looking for a Managing Director to join their team within the FMCG Sector.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the fund’s investment strategy and governance
  • Lead deal sourcing, due diligence, investment structuring, and negotiations
  • Support portfolio companies through board participation, strategic guidance, and coordination of technical assistance
  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing local investment team
  • Manage relationships with investors, donors, partners, and key ecosystem stakeholders
  • Ensure high-quality financial, impact, and investor reporting
  • Oversee the management company’s operations, administration, and financial management.

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in business, finance, engineering, or a related field
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and, ideally, direct entrepreneurial experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, investment, or SME focused consulting in Africa with a strong interest in working in investment.
  • 5–10 years of overall professional experience in finance, strategy, or management
  • Strong financial analysis and investment structuring skills.
  • Experience working with or managing donor-funded or blended-finance programs is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of the Mozambican business and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Ability to work in a start-up environment and build an institution from the ground up Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Fluency in English is an asset.
