Job Description
Mozambique continues to face recurring climate-related shocks that disrupt access to essential services, particularly health, protection, psychosocial support, and information at community level. These impacts are disproportionately experienced by adolescent girls and young women, internally displaced persons, and persons with disabilities, especially in climate-affected provinces such as Zambézia. UNDP Mozambique is implementing an emergency programme that supports restoration of essential services, strengthens district-level systems, and integrates advocacy, communication, and community engagement as core components of effective service delivery. Within this context, UNDP seeks a Field Communications Intern based in Quelimane to support community-level communication, documentation, and feedback processes that contribute to inclusive, rights-based, and accountable programme implementation.
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Analyst and in close coordination with programme colleagues at provincial and district levels, the Intern will:

- Support implementation of community communication and engagement activities promoting awareness and access to programme-supported services.
- Assist dissemination of accessible information on services, referral pathways, and community support mechanisms adapted to local contexts.
- Support awareness and behavior change activities related to gender-based violence prevention, women’s and girls’ rights, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
- Assist organization and documentation of community dialogues, outreach sessions, and engagement with community leaders, youth, women’s groups, and local associations.
- Contribute to preparation of community-friendly communication materials, including briefs, posters, photo documentation, and short videos.
- Collect field observations on information gaps, barriers to access, and community perceptions to support adaptive communication strategies.
- Support coordination with district and community stakeholders to align communication activities with local priorities and initiatives.
B. Support Content Collection and Documentation
- Collect and organize communication materials, including photographs, quotes, interviews, and beneficiary stories, ensuring informed consent.
- Draft simple field notes, captions, and short stories for reports and communication products.
- Support documentation of good practices, challenges, and lessons learned from programme implementation.
C. Support Community Feedback and Learning
- Assist collection of community feedback on access to services, information gaps, and inclusion concerns.
- Share field observations with programme and communication teams to strengthen outreach and communication approaches.
- Contribute communication inputs to monitoring and progress updates.

- Ensure communication activities comply with UNDP ethical standards, safeguarding principles, and “do no harm” approaches.
- Promote respectful, accurate, and dignified representation of women, girls, persons with disabilities, and displaced populations
