Description
- The Project Engineer serves as the client’s on-site representative for the CTM construction project, responsible for overseeing the execution of work by the General Contractor and associated subcontractors. This role ensures that project delivery aligns with contractual requirements, quality standards, schedule, and budget expectations. The Project Engineer will actively manage project documentation, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), assist in scope development, and review contractor submissions including invoices and certification documents
Duties
Construction Oversight & Coordination
- Act as the client’s onsite representative, monitoring daily construction activities
- Coordinate with the General Contractor, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes
- Identify and escalate risks, delays, or deviations from the project plan
RFI Management
- Review, track, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) in a timely manner
- Coordinate with design consultants and internal stakeholders to provide accurate technical clarifications
- Maintain a log of RFIs and ensure proper documentation and closure
Scope Development & Change Management
- Assist in developing and defining project scope, including clarifications and scope gaps
- Evaluate contractor change requests and variations for accuracy and justification
- Support preparation and review of scope documentation for contract modifications
Payment Certification & Invoice Review
- Review contractor progress invoices for accuracy against completed work
- Verify quantities, milestones, and compliance with contract terms
- Review and recommend approval of payment certificates
- Ensure all supporting documentation is complete and compliant before processing
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain organized records of project correspondence, submittals, RFIs, and approvals
- Prepare regular progress reports for the client, highlighting key metrics, risks, and updates
- Monitor contractor submittals and ensure timely review and approval
Quality & Compliance
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design, specifications, and quality standards
- Report and track non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Support implementation of health, safety, and environmental requirements
Schedule Monitoring
- Review contractor schedules and progress updates
- Identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with stakeholders to maintain alignment with project milestones
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (C/E/M), Construction Management, or related field
- 3–7 years of experience in commercial construction projects
- Experience working as an owner’s/client representative or in a similar oversight role is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, project documentation, and site operations
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and documentation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong attention to detail, especially in reviewing invoices and certifications
- Proficiency in project management and documentation tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, document control systems)
- Work Environment
- Full-time, primarily onsite role at the construction project
- May require extended hours depending on project demands and milestones
- Some weekends
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
