Our client in Cabo Delgado is looking for a Senior Geologist to join their team within the Mining Sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable to ensure that personal and Team HSE KPIs are set and achieved by all team members. Ensuring behavior and work practices of team members are consistent with HSE and Quality Standards and procedures including correct use of PPE, incident reporting and housekeeping. Ensuring safe and serviceable condition of tools and equipment utilized in area of responsibility. Providing leadership and coaching of team members to reinforce safe work practices and eliminate unsafe work practices or conditions.
  • Supervise and ensure safe execution of exploration activities (geological mapping, sampling, drilling, XRF analysis).
  • Perform geological logging, sampling, and photography of drilled boreholes.
  • Maintain hard copies of logging sheets and digital copies of core photographs for database updates.
  • Collection and compilation of geological data for monthly drilling reports.
  • Monitor the Exploration Process Plant (EPP) and Weighbridge operations to ensure safe and smooth functioning.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports for EPP, and weighbridge activities.
  • Plan and execute inventory management for drilling and Exploration Processing Plant.
  • Participate in training programs and use geological software for database processing and ore modeling.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s/Master’ s degree in Geology or equivalent degree/course, with relevant work experience.
  • 6-11 years of experience in supervising and executing exploration activities, including geological mapping, sampling, drilling planning and execution.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in geological data collection, compilation, interpretation, and report writing.
  • Experience with GIS software and resource modelling tools such as Surpac and Leapfrog is required. Proficiency in Leapfrog is particularly advantageous. Familiarity with the MX Deposit geological database is also beneficial.
