Job Purpose:
The Community Technician will support community development and conservation activities in and around Zinave National Park, focusing on community engagement, climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, natural resource management and human-wildlife coexistence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry and wildlife-friendly farming practices.
• Train and support farmers, lead farmers and farmers’ associations.
• Assist with human-wildlife conflict prevention and mitigation measures.
• Support Natural Resource Management Committees (NRMCs) and community participation in conservation governance.
• Monitor agricultural and livestock activities and support community fairs.
• Support alternative livelihoods and income-generating activities, particularly for vulnerable groups.
• Liaise with district authorities, agricultural services, NGOs and community structures.
• Support identification of suitable locations for community water infrastructure.
• Prepare monthly and technical reports documenting progress, challenges and community feedback.
• Support technical assessments, monitoring and communication activities.
• Facilitate community agreement on Park boundaries and demarcation.
• Support environmental education programmes.
• Monitor the use of the 20% of revenues allocated to communities.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in agricultural projects.
• Degree in Agriculture, Livestock, Agroforestry, Animal Science, Natural Resources Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in Portuguese and practical knowledge of English.
• Knowledge of Xitsua is an advantage.
• Experience in natural resource management, land use and local development.
• Knowledge of subsistence farming, agricultural production and community-based resource management.
• Valid driver’s licence.
