HSE MANAGER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The HSE Manager will be responsible for:

  • Conducting regular workplace inspections and risk assessments;
  • Identifying hazards and implementing appropriate preventive and corrective actions;
  • Investigating accidents and incidents and recommending corrective measures;
  • Monitoring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements;
  • Inspecting PPE/PPC, equipment, machinery, tools and workplace facilities;
  • Ensuring the inspection and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment and fire prevention systems;
  • Monitoring forklifts, vehicles, utilities and other operational equipment;
  • Managing HSE requirements relating to contractors, suppliers and visitors;
  • Ensuring implementation of applicable OHS legal requirements;
  • Developing and delivering Health, Safety and Environmental training and awareness programmes;
  • Coordinating HSE onboarding and safety inductions for employees, visitors, suppliers and contractors;
  • Supporting and coordinating safety committees and safety champions;
  • Maintaining HSE records, statistics, reports and risk registers;
  • Monitoring environmental aspects, including waste management and impact/aspect registers;
  • Conducting and supporting HSE audits and following up on findings until closure;
  • Providing HSE advice and recommendations to management to support informed decision-making;
  • Supervising and guiding employees and contractors on Health, Safety and Environmental matters.

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree/BSc in a relevant field related to HSE/EHS/OHS;
  • Diploma or professional accreditation in Safety Management;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE/Safety experience;
  • Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage or a manufacturing environment will be an advantage;
  • Strong experience in:
    • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment;
    • Safety Management;
    • Accident and Incident Investigation;
    • Environmental and Waste Management;
    • Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness;
    • HSE Compliance and Auditing;
    • HSE Reporting and Documentation;
  • Good knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and standards;
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and coordinate different stakeholders;
  • Good command of English is required.
