HOTEL ENGINEER

SCOPE OF THE ROLE

The Hotel Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Maintenance Department through a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programme, aligned with Serena Hotels’ corporate strategies and brand standards.

The successful candidate will ensure that employee, guest and business expectations are consistently met while maintaining the hotel’s facilities, equipment and infrastructure to the highest standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Align the engineering strategy with the group strategy and ensure readiness for all property projects;
  • Act as custodian of the property’s physical concepts and plans, ensuring safety, functionality and aesthetics;
  • Manage the annual maintenance budget and identify opportunities for cost savings;
  • Ensure that the engineering team has clearly defined roles and annual performance plans;
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards;
  • Implement energy-efficient practices and sustainability initiatives;
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programmes;
  • Ensure the hotel’s facilities and equipment remain safe, functional and operational.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Engineering or a Diploma from a recognised technical institution;
  • Professional certification will be an advantage;
  • More than 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role;
  • Experience with equipment, facilities, workplace safety and OSHA requirements;
  • Proven experience in luxury hospitality engineering;
  • Experience in 5-star hotels or upscale resorts is highly desirable;
  • Strong leadership, project management and team management skills;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
