QUALIFICATIONS
● Valid License: Appropriate heavy vehicle commercial driver’s license (such as a Class A/B CDL or local heavy vehicle/professional equivalent).
● Clean Record: A safe driving record with no major violations or recent accidents.
● Experience: Proven professional driving experience (typically 5 to 8 years) operating large commercial trucks.
● Physical Fitness: Ability to sit for long hours, work in diverse weather conditions, and lift heavy items (often 25+ Ibs].
● Clearance/Testing: Ability to pass background checks, medical fitness exams, and drug/alcohol screenings where required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Safe Operation: Drive and maneuver heavy commercial vehicles following all local and national traffic laws.
● Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, brakes, fluid levels, and lights).
● Cargo Handling: Supervise or assist with loading, unloading, and properly securing cargo to prevent shifting.
● Route Planning: Plan efficient routes using GPS or maps while adapting to traffic or weather delays.
● Documentation: Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records, fuel receipts, and mileage logs.
● Communication: Report any mechanical issues, route hazards, or delivery delays to dispatchers and branch management.
