WE’RE HIRING: PROJECT MANAGER

Mwai Community Conservation Area, Southern Mozambique

The Fundação para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável e Conservação (FDSC), Conserve Global’s in-country entity in Mozambique, is looking for a Project Manager to lead our work in Mwai.

Mwai is a Community Conservation Area, protected by the community that chose conservation as its land use. FDSC works alongside the Associação Comunitária para Conservação – Corredor Futhi (ACCCF) to protect its wetlands, forests, and wildlife, and to grow nature-based businesses that benefit the people who live there.

The Project Manager is the main link between FDSC, ACCCF, government, donors, partners, and tourism investors. You’ll lead conservation management and the area’s integrated management plan. You’ll also guide responses to human-wildlife conflict, strengthen community governance and the Joint Management Committee, develop enterprise, manage budgets and donor compliance, and lead the field team.

Requirements

  • At least ten years of experience managing complex conservation or community development programmes;

  • Proven CBNRM (Community-Based Natural Resource Management) experience;

  • A track record of managing donor-funded projects in Southern Africa;

  • A valid driver’s licence;

  • A genuine willingness to live in a remote rural area;

  • Portuguese, Xitsonga, or isiZulu language skills are a strong advantage.

Contract Details
