Baseline Survey Consultant (Nuunuwe Vamoza Project)

Kampos, SA is seeking a qualified consultant to design and lead the implementation of a baseline survey for the Nuunuwe Vamoza Project in the Maganja da Costa district, Zambézia Province. The project aims to reduce pressure on coastal ecosystems by promoting sustainable, climate-resilient livelihoods.

Project Overview

The Nuunuwe Vamoza Project focuses on strengthening economic autonomy and environmental stewardship in high-vulnerability coastal zones, including Bala, Caburi, Muso, and Nante. Interventions integrate agriculture, aquaculture, agroforestry, and ecological construction to benefit approximately 1,600 individuals. This includes women-headed households, youth, and artisanal fishers.

Purpose of the Assignment

The consultant will establish initial values for key performance indicators and assess the socio-economic conditions of target populations. This data will provide a robust evidence base for project monitoring, target setting, and adaptive management.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale baseline studies in coastal or rural communities.
  • Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Experience working with fishing communities and knowledge of livelihoods like agriculture, aquaculture, and mangrove conservation.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully with vulnerable populations and individuals with low literacy levels.
  • Excellent English writing skills and a track record of producing high-quality analytical reports.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the Maganja da Costa district.
