About this offer

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake routine environmental and ecology monitoring as required.
  • Support biodiversity data collection resulting from biodiversity monitoring programs.
  • Respond to onsite wildlife encounters, including fauna handling and relocation.
  • Promote wildlife stewardship on site, though advocacy and workforce engagement.
  • Support the implementation of contractors’ field biodiversity monitoring activities.
  • Provide biodiversity l and environmental guidance for field operations.
  • Support the Preparation and deliver ecology training and awareness materials.
  • Implement initiatives to minimize/avoid site ecological issues, e.g prevention of fauna fatalities.
  • Support inspections and audits of contractor sites as required.
  • Support specialist biodiversity consultants to ensure their ecological surveys are executed safely, on time and within budget.
  • Analyse biodiversity data and compile reports as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum graduate or post-graduate degree (preferred) in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Conservation, Ecology, Biology, Biodiversity, or any related subjects.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant proven experience in a relevant field (e.g., in biodiversity monitoring, or conservation project).
  • Excellent working knowledge of environmental and ecological monitoring techniques in remote environments.
  • Ability to support multiple contractors concurrently, including ensuring compliance with applicable contractual requirements.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environments with autonomy, solve complex problems and be solutions orientated.
  • Strong ability to communicate and engage with stakeholders on environmental and ecological issues.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills required. Portuguese or French is advantageous.
