Cargo & Ballast Officer Role:
- Operate the cargo transfer and ballast operation;
- Monitoring and check the stability, stresses and weight distribution on the Coral FLNG facility;
- Operate the communications with the calling vessels, supply boats and Helicopters.
Main Responsibilities:
- In general, to assist and support the Marine Superintendent on the off-loading operations;
- To assist in the safe berthing, loading and un-berthing of all LNG Tankers calling at the port facilities;
- Operate the LNG & Condensate Off-Loading operations. Includes loading procedures and implement Coral FLNG SA’s port regulations;
- Supervise the Ballast Operations;
- Monitoring and check the stability, stresses and weight distribution on the Coral FLNG facility;
- Operate the communications with the calling vessels, supply boats and Helicopters;
- To operate FLNG marine equipment such as:
- Gangway and crane;
- Emergency shutdown;
- Mooring hooks;
- Berthing Aids;
- Navigation Aids;
- Marine Environment monitoring;
- Fire Fighting system;
- Life Saving Appliances.
- Identify maintenance requirements for the marine facility in coordination with the maintenance personnel;
- Carry out thorough safety checks, follow up with regular ship-shore safety checklist when vessel alongside;
- Closely monitors marine maintenance work to ensure safety requirement are being observed;
- Knows how to safely operate the hydraulically powered loading arms and gangway;
- Carries out the necessary procedures for connecting, testing and disconnecting of all loading arms and Cargo Hoses;
- Liaise closely with ship’s representatives to ensure correct procedures are being observed at the commencement of loading;
- Throughout the loading operations regularly monitors the area for leaks, report any problems to the marine superintendent;
- Maintains an accurate log of loading operations;
- Ensure that all defected equipment is logged for maintenance;
- Participate in safety training; emergency exercises, including first line attack on fires or leaks using gas detectors as and when required;
- Working Knowledge of installations storage area is necessary so that he is aware of the outcome of changing loading patterns;
- Carry out further duties as required by the Marine Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Total years of experience are 3 to 7 years (at least 2 years in LNG facilities or Cargo Officer on board LNG carriers)
- Minimum 2 years serving as officer with experience of cargo handling operations on board LNG & Oil Tankers;
- National Legislation (with particular regard to environmental legislation) Port & Terminal Regulations;
- Compliance with recommendations outlined in OCIMF publications;
- Certificate of Competency according to STCW with current Liquefied Gas and Oil Cargo Handling Endorsements issued by the UK Department of Transport, Environment & Regions or other internationally acceptable equivalent.
