Coded Welder (SMAW / AWS D1.1)
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Coded Welder to join our construction and engineering team in Afungi. The successful candidate will execute high-quality manual Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on structural steel plates and components, ensuring strict compliance with AWS D1.1 structural welding codes, QA/QC standards, and site safety protocols.
Funções
- Perform manual SMAW (Stick) welding on structural base metals (Group II / S355 or equivalent)
- Execute multi-layer groove, fillet, and butt welds with back-gouging and back-welding techniques
- Weld efficiently across all positions, specifically maintaining high standards in 3G (Vertical Up) and 4G (Overhead) positions
- Ensure all completed welds meet strict visual and non-destructive testing (NDT / Radiographic) acceptance criteria
Requisitos
- Certification: Must hold a valid Welder Qualification Test Certificate (WQT) compliant with AWS D1.1 standards
- Process Expertise: Proven experience in manual SMAW using E7018-1 (F1–F4 filler metal groups) electrodes
- Position & Thickness: Fully qualified to weld in all positions (tested in 3G/4G) with a qualified thickness range of 3 mm to 24 mm
- Experience: Previous experience working on heavy structural steel, oil & gas, or large-scale mining/infrastructure projects is highly preferred
- Strong adherence to occupational health, safety, and strict QA/QC compliance
