Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Contract Operations Manager to support one of our key projects within the Africa region. This rotational position is based in Pemba, Mozambique.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective delivery of services to our clients, while managing operational assets and providing leadership and coaching to local teams.
Reporting directly to the Regional Managing Director at our headquarters in the Netherlands, this role presents a unique opportunity to support and enhance the strategic and operational performance of our activities across the region.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the team in maintaining a safe, secure, and professional work environment, ensuring day-to-day operations are executed seamlessly.
- Inspire, develop, and motivate the staff and crew assigned to the contract. Your leadership will drive their success and contribute to a positive work culture.
- Manage company assets and crew daily to ensure maximum utilization of our vessels.
- Control financial performance, aligning it with budgets and the company objectives.
- Monitor and report on the financial and operational performance of the contract, ensuring timely payments from clients.
- Manage crew policies and procedures, while controlling budgets and ensuring compliance with the local regulations.
- Build strong relationships with clients and manage their expectations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the current contract and maximize revenue potential.
- Develop and maintain a dedicated training center for employees, supporting consistent workforce development and aligning with long-term strategic goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- With your sea-going and other maritime experiences, you must possess a deep understanding of ports and SPM Operations ((VTS, Pilotage, Harbor/Static Towing, Moorings, Floating Hoses Handling, AtoN maintenances etc.).
- Proven experience in a similar role with demonstrated success and achievements.
- Strong leadership, managerial, decision making, problem solving, and communication skills are a prerequisite for this position.
- The ideal candidate should have experience in managing the budget. Controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
- Fluent English communication skills are essential to interact seamlessly with our multinational and multicultural crew and staff with additional language skills seen as an added benefit in the region.
- Proficiency in Portuguese is considered an advantage.
- Bring your enthusiasm, optimism, adaptability energetic and hands-on approach to manage stress and excel in a rotational work schedule.
- Detail oriented and having high ethical standards with a sense of responsibility is needed.
