Crane Eletrical Technician

Job Description
- Responsible for safety & discipline in work area
- Carry out electrical maintenance, fault finding and monitoring of the cranes and other related equipment and carry out the tasks assigned by Supervisor.
- Ensure maximum operational availability of cranes by diagnostic work and repair methods.
- Submit routine inspection and monitoring reports as required.
- Carry out duties independently when called out and report breakdowns and faults.
- Assume additional responsibility for crane maintenance in the absence of Supervisor.
- Ensure that emergency work is followed up by reporting to Supervisor.
- Ensure work practice conforms to safety regulations and procedures.
- Ensure that all preventive maintenance (Electrical) is conducted as defined in the system.
- Attend breakdowns as reported by Planning & Admin Clerk on immediate basis.
- Ensure accurate, up to date information is provided in the work order for input into the system.
- Ensure that work order is generated (in coordination with planning clerk) for all electrical work performed on the cranes
- Submit correct information about start time and end time of maintenance activity. Conduct maintenance activities as per defined timelines
- Obtain approval of supervisor before making purchase requisition and submitting to stores
- Ensures tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment for which his team is responsible.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience in container in seaport and/ or heavy equipment environment
- Mandatory: 2 to 3 years
- Education: Grade 12 with specialization in mechanical systems. Preferable: Diploma in electrical engineering
- Preferable experience in working on heavy equipment in ports, mining, steel industries
- Ability to work on heights, knowledge about lifting chain and ropes
- Detailed knowledge of a wide range of electrical equipment, diesel engines, transmissions, pneumatic & hydraulic systems, brakes etc. Conversant with technical/ parts manuals, and drawings.
- Fully conversant with safety procedures
