Customs Clearance Assistant

CBE Southern Africa is looking for A qualified Customs Clearance Assistant to join our dynamic team, contributing to the efficient management of import and export operations within the mining sector. This role involves ensuring compliance with trade laws, streamlining logistics, and facilitating the timely movement of goods. You will play a crucial part in maintaining smooth supply chain operations and supporting the company’s commitment to operational excellence and regulatory adherence. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize customs processes and minimize delays, directly impacting our project timelines and overall productivity.

• • Manage the import and export of goods by preparing shipping paperwork, verifying compliance with trade laws,
• and coordinating with freight forwarders;
• • Prepare, verify, and archive import and export documents, including customs declarations, shipping manifests,
• and bills of lading;
• • Work closely with clearing agents, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and customs officials to ensure the
• smooth release of cargo;
• • Secure required import/export permits, licenses, and certificates, and assist in classifying goods using HS
• codes.

• • Proficiency in customs clearance procedures and international trade regulations;
• • Strong understanding of import/export documentation, including customs declarations, shipping manifests, and
• bills of lading;
• • Familiarity with HS codes and goods classification;
• • Excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate with various stakeholders;
• • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines;
• • A diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field is preferred;
• • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
