Job Summary

Responsible for the monitoring, validation, and approval of Terms of Commitment (TCs) in accordance with Exchange Control regulations issued by the Central Bank. The role ensures regulatory compliance for cross-border transactions, timely submission of regulatory reports, and effective support to internal business units. The position contributes to a stable control environment, enhanced client service, and process efficiency through automation.

 

Job Description

 

The Exchange Control Officer – TCs Monitoring and Approval is accountable for ensuring that all cross-border transactions processed by the bank are compliant with the Exchange Control framework established by the Central Bank of Mozambique. The primary responsibilities include the validation and approval of Terms of Commitment (TCs), daily monitoring of outstanding cases, and regularisation follow-up to avoid non-compliance.

This role also provides advisory support to Retail and Corporate Banking business units, prepares regulatory reports, and supports internal and external audits. The officer is expected to uphold high standards of control and documentation, contribute to automation initiatives, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve Terms of Commitment (TCs) in compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Monitor and follow up on the regularisation of outstanding TCs

  • Prepare daily, monthly, and ad hoc reports to the Central Bank

  • Provide technical guidance on Exchange Control to internal business units

  • Ensure proper documentation and classification of all cross-border transactions

  • Identify risks, escalate anomalies, and support risk mitigation initiatives

  • Liaise with auditors and the regulator as needed

  • Participate in automation and process improvement efforts
