Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Monitoring & Compliance
  • Monitor checklist / daily log sheet of routine activities and take necessary action in case of any inadequate information or deviation observed
  • Conduct daily inspections of site activities to ensure Contractor compliance with environmental regulations and project-specific standards.
  • Critically assessing environmental conditions in the field to evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction.
  • Monitor air, water, soil, wastes and noise levels as per environmental management plans.
  • Identify and report any environmental risks or non-compliance issues.
  • Evaluating potential issues and concerns ahead of construction activities
  • Overseeing the proper implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Providing technical leadership, support and direction to field staff. 
  • Preparing documentation to support requests for variances from environmental permits.
  • Has stop work authority if an imminent threat to the environment/ would result in non-compliant situation
  • Participating in various construction meetings.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in field-based environmental and regulatory oversight roles, preferably in oil & gas, mining, or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and other environmental management systems.
  • Willingness to work in remote or challenging environments.
  • Excellent problem solving, observational and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Proficient technical skills, including, but not limited to, experience using Microsoft Office programs and digital cameras.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling methods. Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring tools and software.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to safety and sustainability.
  • High level of interpersonal skills in a multicultural work environment.
  • Strong commitment to ethical conduct and respect.
  • Good communication and writing skills, ability to contribute and develop high quality reports, in Portuguese and English.
