Our client in Montepuez is looking for a Head of HSE to join their team for a job vacancy within the Mining Sector.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
  • Ensure that Operational & Statutory reports are delivered on time, to meet company and department requirements governing reporting.
  • Accountable to ensure that personal and Department HSE KPIs are set and achieved by all team members.
  • Designing best practice HSE Management Standards for the organization capable of creating and sustaining the organization HSE and Quality culture.
  • Providing specialist input with HOD’s, Managers, Superintendents, and others in relation to HSE standards and standard operating procedures design.
  • Develop strategies to Cultivate and foster continuous improvement initiatives in the Department.
  • Actively develop and maintain Succession Plans for the department. Also play an active role as a mentor.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.
  • Develop and support overall strategy and programs to foster community engagement and development of local communities / individuals.
  • Ensure full compliance with Statutory Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements.
  • Cost responsibility for HSE and to operate effectively within their budget.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or a related field, such as engineering, biology, or chemistry, HSE.
  • Qualification for legal compliance such as: NOSA, SAMTRAC, HACCAP, ICAM, IT IS, NEBOSCH, etc.
  • Uphold high standards of Risk Management and monitor the Implementation of Integrated Management System (IMS) – (ISO45001; ISO9001 & ISO 14001).
  • Minimum Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in related areas
  • Academical Diploma (A bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or a related field, such as engineering, biology, or chemistry, HSE).
  • Experience of leading teams in areas covering HSE.
  • Experience in liaising, managing, influencing, and negotiating with government authorities.
  • Expertise in project Planning and operations.
  • Strong understanding of Mozambican Legislation & related legal framework.
  • Have a valid Driving License.
