Job Overview

We are seeking a bilingual HSE Trainer fluent in English and Chinese to lead health, safety, and environmental training initiatives for a major oil & gas infrastructure project. The role demands deep expertise in construction site safety, hazard management, and industry-specific HSE standards to ensure compliance and cultivate a proactive safety culture across a multilingual workforce.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Conduct site-specific hazard awareness sessions (e.g., working at height, confined spaces, hot work, lifting operations).
  • Lead onboarding safety inductions for new personnel and contractors.
  • Translate and adapt training materials for bilingual delivery (English/Chinese).
  • Ensure all translated training materials are accurate, culturally appropriate, and regularly updated to reflect current regulations and site practices.
  • Maintain training records and QR code logs for audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors to identify training needs and schedule sessions.
  • Coordinate directly with subcontractors to book, schedule, and confirm training sessions.
  • Promote safety culture through toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and behavioural safety initiatives.

Essential Qualifications and Education

  • Minimum 5 years of HSE training experience in oil & gas or similar construction projects.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (spoken and written).
  • Recognised HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30, IOSH Managing Safely).
  • Knowledge of international and local HSE regulations.
  • Experience with high-risk construction activities and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to operate with minimal supervision in demanding project environments.

Preferred Qualifications and Education

  • Experience working on mega infrastructure projects or multinational joint ventures.
  • Ability to adapt training for varied literacy levels and cultural contexts.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
