Overview
The Associate Labor Relations Specialist / Industrial Relations Officer is an individual contributor and professional that applies their conceptual knowledge of Labor Relations and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward Labor Relations problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Labor Relations Specialist understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance and adherence to corporate HR policies, procedures, processes, and record keeping requirements.
- Maintains employee-related databases. Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company.
- Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
- Ensures annual required training is conducted and training records maintained.
- Assists with the establishment of an in-house employee training system that addresses company training needs including new hire orientation and the documentation of required plant and/or skill training. Specifically, but not limited to Medical, Site Induction, HSE Induction and HR Induction.
- Assists with the local recruitment process using the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit.
- Ensures compliance with corporate and government employment policies.
- Communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
- Participates in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth. (Company Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures)
- Advises managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company. Counsels’ managers on employment issues
- Assists with employee communication.
- Manage Work Place Forum and Camp Comity
- Any other duties that will be required from time to time.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of Labor Relations experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or commensurate experience
- Certifications or accreditations in labor relations, HR, contracts or negotiation strategies
- Ability to work with all organizational levels to influence actions and negotiate outcomes

- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills involving the ability to establish trust, mediate conflict, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions
- Ability to work tactically and strategically with client partners and unions on labor issues
