Law Enforcement Relations Officer
Karingani Game Reserve, a large private game reserve (150,000 ha) in Mozambique, is looking for a Law Enforcement Relations Officer to join our team. The position is based on the Reserve of Karingani in Massingir district, Province of Gaza
Job Purpose:
The Law Enforcement Relations Officer will serve as the primary liaison between the Karingani and law enforcement, judicial institutions, and regulatory bodies. The role ensures effective collaboration in matters related to security, wildlife crime, legal compliance, and community safety, with a particular focus on poaching cases, legal evidence, and firearm regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the official liaison between the organization and local police, courts, and regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate all legal and administrative processes relating to wildlife crime, especially poaching cases.
- Support and follow up on court cases, ensuring timely and accurate submission of evidence and documentation
- Assist in the legalization and renewal of firearms, including applications, licensing, and compliance with local regulations.
- Work closely with law enforcement to strengthen anti-poaching operations and wildlife protection.
- Gather and maintain records of intelligence related to criminal activities or threats to conservation areas.
- Collaborate with the Security and Wildlife teams on strategies to prevent and respond to illegal activities.
- Monitor and update on the progress of legal cases and police investigations involving the organization.
- Maintain secure records of court processes, police reports, evidence, and communication logs.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on law enforcement interactions and risks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma Basic Police Training, Security Management, Paralegal, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in law enforcement, judiciary support, or legal liaison roles.
- Proven experience handling legal documentation and working with courts and police authorities.
- Familiarity with firearm legislation and security procedures.
- Strong understanding of wildlife crime, especially poaching
- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Fluent in Portuguese; Fluent of English and Basic Shangana languages is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license required.
