Managing Director – Industrial Sector – Mozambique

Our client, a respected and growing organisation, involved in import and distribution of a wide range of industrial products is seeking a results-driven Managing Director to lead and expand its operations in Mozambique. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a high-impact leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape strategy, drive commercial growth, and build a high-performance culture in one of Southern Africa’s most dynamic markets.

In this pivotal position, you will have full accountability for operational delivery, market expansion, and financial performance, while steering the business towards long-term sustainability and competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and execute the strategic direction for the Mozambique business, ensuring alignment with broader group objectives.
  • Drive sales growth and market share by identifying new business opportunities and deepening existing partnerships.
  • Take full ownership of PnL performance, ensuring profitability, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire branch and functional leadership teams to achieve exceptional results.
  • Navigate the regulatory, cultural, and commercial complexities of doing business in Mozambique.
  • Champion change management initiatives that strengthen organisational resilience and position the business for future growth

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ senior leadership experience in Mozambique – non-negotiable.
  • Proven ability to deliver sustained growth in distributed operations within industrial or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated financial leadership, including PnL accountability and compliance management in the Mozambican context.
  • Strong background in business development, market expansion, and strategic transformation.
  • Portuguese language proficiency is highly advantageous.

Educational Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce, or management.
