Action Contre La Faim is a humanitarian association recognized as being of public benefit and founded in 1979, the organization operates in 47 countries in the fields of nutrition, health, food security and livelihoods, water, hygiene and sanitation and mental health and care practices. As part of our programs, we are currently looking for a Mental Health, Psychosocial Support Deputy Project Manager.
Contract duration: 5.5 months, Renewable

Remuneration: 18.184, 00MZN (Gross monthly Income) and 13° Month paid in December (prorata depending on the starting date);

General Objectives
- Under the supervision of the Health and Nutrition Project Manager, this person will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring of MHPSS activities, the training and supervision of the MHPSS team in Mueda district, in the context of Cabo Delgado humanitarian crisis.
- S/he will support and supervise the overall execution of MHPSS activities in the field, contributing with their knowledge and experience to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of actions.
- S/he will ensure the integration of MHPSS activities in health and nutrition mobile brigades ensuring its technical quality and outcomes to the assisted population
- S/he will ensure the implementation and quality of MHPSS on the job supervision in Mueda health centers
- S/he will ensure the implementation and quality of MHPSS interventions towards severe acute malnourished children and pregnant women at Mueda hospital
- S/he will feed and ensure the production of monthly reports that will support the PM in filling out the activity progress report and other required external reports.
- S/he will support the Project Manager, as direct supervisor, in the implementation of different field planning, management, coordination and training activities with various actors.
- With the support of his/her Manager, s/she must identify areas where staff need support and conduct appropriate training to build technical capabilities in officers and ensure the implementation of activities with the required high quality.
Specific Objectives
Mission 1: Ensure implementation, monitoring and reporting in accordance with MHPSS program guidelines
- Plan and supervise the implementation of MHPSS activities;
- Ensure the technical quality of MHPSS implemented activities;
- Organize MHPSS trainings and refreshers to key actors and community members;
- Identify technical constraints in the implementation and provide recommendations;
- Contribute to the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with MEAL team;
- Assist the Program Manager in the administrative, logistical and budgetary operations of MHPSS activities;
- Contribute to the capitalization of achievements and lessons learned;
- Participate in project reporting (monthly, intermediate and annual) by drafting any MHPSS related section.
Mission 2: Supervise and manage the MHPSS team
- Assist in the recruitment of the MHPSS team;
- Provide regular planning to the MHPSS team to conduct activities as planned;
- Ensure team members have an appropriate workload and work efficiently;
- Assess the capacity and identify the gaps and training needs of the MHPSS team;
- Build the capacity of the MHPSS team through regular training and technical supervision.
Mission 3: Participate in the coordination, representation of ACF
- Participate in visits by donors, partners, coordination of the project and implement all agreed recommendations from these visits;
- Represent ACF and ensure relations with partners, authorities, UN agencies and NGOs in external meetings;
- Participate to clusters, MHPSS TWG as requested.
Mission 4: Contribute to capitalization and technical development
- Develop and/or adapt existing MHPSS IEC materials, protocols, technical guidelines to the context;
- Capitalize and document on lessons learned and innovation;
- Produce regular success stories to share with Communication department;
- Maintain and update the MHPSS folder on NHF.
Mission 5: Maintain strict respect for confidentiality
- Ensure that the confidentiality of data, the property of ACF project beneficiaries, is strictly maintained.
Skills & Experiences Required for the position
Education level and experiences expected:
- University Degree in Psychology;
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of MHPSS in a similar position with international NGOs;
- Experience working in humanitarian crisis settings;
- Experience working in Mueda is an asset.
Technical skills:
- Proven experience in MHPSS interventions, care of people in psychological distress in conflict settings;
- Experience in development and adaptation of IEC materials;
- Ability to prioritize activities, plan and estimate schedules and resources for MHPSS interventions;
- Ability to train and supervise local teams;
- Knowledge in health and nutrition, early childhood development and Gender Based Violence issues is preferred.
