Peace Parks Foundation is a non-profit company established to facilitate the establishment and development of Transfrontier Conservation Areas in southern Africa. Peace Parks is currently supporting the development of conservation areas in Mozambique through partnership agreements with the National Administration of Conservation Areas.
Job Profile
You have experience in the management of large scale conservation areas with a passion for conservation and environmental sustainability. You have a strong technical capacity and understanding of law enforcement and anti-poaching operations, management of conservation infrastructures and assets and the management of wildlife – coupled with strong administrative and organisational skills and an ability to adopt technology, with an ability to work under pressure in a remote field-based environment.
In this role, you will ensure that conservation areas park management and development activities are planned, executed and finalised effectively with a focus on law enforcement, infrastructures and assets and conservation activities. The role will also facilitate communication between stakeholders and ensure skills transfer and mentoring to park personnel.

Job Purpose
An Operations Manager is required to support the management and development of Banhine National Park as part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Area with a primary focus on the protection, conservation and infrastructure operations. The position will report to the Head of Operations and Development and will support the Park Management Committee and Park Administrator working closely with each of the park operational departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific key performance areas will include:
- Ensure that the management and development of the park is aligned with strategic and park management plans.
- Provide management support and oversight to the park’s conservation, infrastructure and protection operations and act as a contact point for these operations in relation to the transfrontier conservation area and corridor developments.
- Ensure that skills are transferred and capacity is developed within all park personnel.
Minimum Requirements
- Good organising, management and leadership skills.
- Passion and experience in a conservation context will be critical.
- Capacity and interest to work in the field and back this up with necessary reporting and computer literacy capacities.
- A relevant qualification in counter poaching, wildlife management, nature conservation or equivalent.
- Good English language skills (written and verbal) while a working knowledge and/or ability to speak Portuguese/Shangaan will be highly advantageous.
- An understanding and/or experience in the management, planning and development of conservation areas with specific understanding and/or experience in counter-poaching, community engagement and infrastructure programmes will be highly advantageous.
- Ability and willingness to live in remote conditions is a prerequisite and experience of working in Southern African and Mozambique conservation regions will be highly advantageous.
- Pilot license for a Savannah (will be an advantage).
