The Key purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Packaging Department (People, Plant, Process and Systems) in order to achieve the required standard of product quality and output in the most efficient and effective manner.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Implement and Comply with safety, health and environmental legislation and procedures
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
  • Develop employees.
  • Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.
  • Manage and apply people policies and practices. Develop employees
  • Manage talent and pipeline in packaging  
  • Facilitate effective team dynamics.
  • Implement performance management and OPR processes
  • Communicate effectively in the workplace.
  • Manages packaging in accordance with VPO tools and principles 
  • Monitor and manage production processes to within budgets
  • Optimise production plan and shifts across the hall, aligned to agreed Run Strategies
  • Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Build and foster relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications and standards
  • Ensure maintenance integrity
  • Optimize process capability
  • Lead packaging projects
  • Co-ordinate packaging logistics
  • Support engineering integrity
  • Conduct administration
  • Lead the VPO drive
  • Implement Technical Strategies
  • Implement packaging Capex projects

Minimum Requirements 

  • Min – BSc or Engineer degree   
  • Min – 3-6 months on the job training Ideal – 6-9 months on the job training
  • 2-3 years as Unit Manager or Packaging Engineer
