Westfalia Fruto Moçambique Lda. Chimoio bairro 25 de Junho zona Industrial, has a vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced Packhouse Manager – Avocados and Oil.
Requirements
Westfalia Fruto Moçambique is seeking a proactive and experienced Packhouse Manager to lead and manage the operational activities of both the avocado packhouse and the proposed oil processing plant. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and quality-driven fruit processing and value-added oil production.
Reporting to the Operations Manager – Packhouses Africa, the successful candidate will oversee daily packhouse functions, manage oil plant operations, enforce compliance with health, safety, and quality standards, and drive performance improvement strategies aligned with group operational goals.
This is a critical leadership role focused on maximizing value extraction from avocado production while ensuring cost-effective, standardized, and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Promote a safe working environment for all staff.
- Enforce adherence to H&S policies and ISO 45001.
- Lead safety talks and incident reporting.
Daily Packhouse Operations
- Oversee all activities from intake to dispatch.
- Coordinate with logistics and production planning teams.
Oil Plant Operations
- Manage oil extraction from avocado waste and rejects.
- Ensure optimal oil yield and quality.
- Coordinate raw material supply from packhouse operations.
Policy and Procedure Development
- Develop and update SOPs, risk assessments, and operational policies.
- Align procedures with Westfalia’s broader production standards.
Training
- Organize training with external providers (e.g., chemical handling, power tools).
- Ensure contractors and suppliers comply with farm policies.
Employee Recruitment & Administration
- Prepare recruitment documents and manage onboarding/offboarding.
- Administer contracts, medicals, and benefit documentation.
- Liaise with Chimoio People & Culture and Payroll offices.
Payroll & Benefits
- Administer provident fund, medical aid, UIF, and ESOP matters.
- Prepare wage deduction and overtime schedules.
General Administration
- Manage fruit MRL testing and farming activity records.
- Capture weather data, harvesting records, and calculate bonuses.
- Maintain document archives.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Agriculture, or a related field
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in packhouse or production management, preferably in fresh produce or FMCG.
- Proven experience supervising diverse teams and managing production lines.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
