O(a) Especialista em Saúde e Bem-Estar Físico e Mental será responsável por fornecer liderança técnica na concepção e implementação de estratégias de Saúde e Bem-Estar Físico e Mental, alinhadas com o modelo de programa UNLOCK da FH e com as políticas nacionais de saúde e nutrição, contribuindo para a melhoria do acesso a serviços de saúde de qualidade e bem-estar de mulheres, crianças e adolescentes.

Physical and Mental Well-Being Specialist (Health and Nutrition Specialist)

Job Summary

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Director (PD), the PMWB (Health and Nutrition) Specialist will be part of the program delivery team responsible for contextualizing and aligning the Physical and Mental Well-being (PMWB) flourishing area with the new program model titled UNLOCK and ensure alignment with national health and nutrition policies, and relevant global standards.

This role leads program design, technical quality assurance and leadership, networking and partnership building, project/program management, monitoring, and staff capacity-building for the effective delivery of PMWB strategies and the rollout of its technical specializations. The PMWB Specialist conducts context and systems analyses to identify priority needs, gaps, and opportunities across the PMWB continuum, and coordinates evidence-based, system-oriented interventions that promote equitable access to quality healthcare, adequate nutrition, mental health and psychosocial support, and enabling health environments—particularly for women, children, and adolescents.  

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1 – Technical support and leadership 

  • Evaluate technical strategies, approaches, and programs to enhance the development of PMWB impactful initiatives- ensuring adherence to WHO, MoH, and donor standards.
  • Support capacity-building activities in PMWB; identify capacity gaps, coordinate training, and provide post-training support/ mentorship to field staff.
  • Ensure coordinated delivery of PMWB approaches and initiatives across Area Programs within the Country office.
  • Incorporate an integrative approach linking other flourishing areas: behavior change, early childhood development and youth-friendly approaches into the PMWB flourishing area interventions. 
  • Lead in the creation of a participatory, enabling, innovative, and transformative health system strengthening capacity to provide high quality services that save lives and prevent and treat illness, particularly focusing on community and primary health. 
  • Effectively coordinate the development of county office PMWB work plans, budgets, and procurement plans in collaboration with other team members
  • Develop mentorship tools and co-design a robust mentorship plan for frontline workers to ensure the quality of implementation of PMWB initiatives. 

 Key result #2 – Strategic partnerships development 

  • Provide leadership for the development of strategic partnerships, ensuring that all shareholders are meaningfully involved in the design, delivery, and evaluation of PMWB products and services. 
  • Support the Program Director in high-level engagement with government counterparts to advance policy alignment, scale, and influence of FH’s PMWB programming Ensure regular coordination with the Program Director and GSC PMWB Technical Advisors to align country priorities with global standards and technical guidance. Represent FH in national Technical Working Groups and other stakeholder platforms to ensure the visibility of FH work and foster a coordinated stakeholder approach.
  • Review and contribute to technical content for fundraising, communications, and advocacy materials related to PMWB, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and donor compliance. Support grant management processes for PMWB projects, including technical reporting, compliance monitoring, and timely submission of deliverables.

 Key result #3 – Staff development 

  • Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of PMWB staff in collaboration with HR, senior management, and GSC technical teams.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and professional development support to PMWB staff to strengthen PMWB technical competencies and leadership capacity. 

 Experience  

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working on programs that support maternal child adolescent health and nutrition programs, mental health programs and digital health innovations.
  • Demonstrable experience in coordinating capacity building and provision of technical support for initiatives that improve children’s development, learning outcomes, and youth development. 
  • Non-profit ministry experience a plus.  

Education/Certifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination in Public Health, Food science and Technology, Nutrition and dietetics or related sciences from accredited university. MSc in Public Health and/or Human Nutrition is desirable.
