Job Description
- Maintain continuous readiness to respond promptly and effectively to any technical failures affecting tugboats and/or marine vessels, as well as issues arising within port facilities.
- Participate in a structured duty rotation with fellow Technical Supervisors, as necessary, to ensure uninterrupted technical oversight within the department.
- Exercise sound judgment in identifying, delegating, and supervising technical assignments across the team, ensuring all work is conducted efficiently, safely, and in accordance with operational priorities.
- Undertake tasks and responsibilities related to vessel operations as assigned by the Technical Superintendent, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Oversee the management and control of onboard inventories, including critical spare parts, ensuring minimum required stock levels are maintained, appropriately recorded, and requisitioned in a timely manner to support uninterrupted vessel functionality.
- Assist proactively in the development, preparation, and execution of dry-docking schedules and preventive maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
- Ensure that all technical records, logbooks, and associated documentation are accurately maintained and updated in accordance with company requirements and audit expectations.
- Conduct regular reviews of vessel engine room logbooks, verifying that all entries are complete, accurate, and aligned with company operational standards.
- Ensure the proper documentation of all safety drills and training exercises in vessel logbooks, in strict compliance with internal procedures and international maritime regulations.
- Perform periodic inspections of all assigned vessels; identify and report any defects; and ensure all requisite technical documentation is completed and submitted to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
- Supervise and verify the operational condition of all essential onboard equipment, reporting immediately any deficiencies or malfunctions to the Technical Department for corrective action.
- Coordinate closely with vessel crews to process material requisitions and ensure timely delivery and proper documentation of supplies.
- Maintain up-to-date records of technical work plans, daily task completion logs, and action trackers to facilitate transparency and accountability.
- Promptly report to the Technical Superintendent any technical issues or system failures that cannot be resolved onboard or that require additional manpower or components, thereby minimizing downtime and operational disruptions.
- Notify the HR Department of any crew-related absences or personnel issues requiring administrative attention.
- Immediately report to the Technical Superintendent and the HSEQ Officer all incidents, accidents, or near misses involving vessels, crew members, or company property, ensuring compliance with internal reporting protocols.
- Advise the Technical Superintendent and Operations Department of any delays in vessel movements, providing sufficient detail to support operational planning and coordination.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with internal departments and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring the alignment of technical operations with overall business objectives.
