Overview

The  Principal Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for managing and leading the Project Control requirements on the project utilizing specialized knowledge and skills. The position will report directly to the Project Manager and routinely interacts with the Project Management Team on site and report functionally to the Region Project Controls Manager. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all Project Controls requirements on the project
  • Lead the Project Controls team
  • Develop Project Controls execution plan and take the lead in implementation
  • Responsible for cost forecasting, scheduling, progress monitoring, change management etc.
  • Develop WBS and CBS as required per the execution plan.
  • Develop and maintain a fully resource loaded integrated EPC schedule
  • Facilitate weekly/ monthly updates and critical path schedule analysis
  • Participate in planning sessions of the project with PMT
  • Establish and maintain progress measurement system aligned with the execution plan
  • Preparation of conformed estimates from the as-sold estimates developed by Estimating
  • Advises Project Management of forecast risks as soon as they are identified
  • Analyze cost and schedule data and recommend solutions or recovery plans as required.
  • Coordinate, participate and contribute in the risks and opportunities workshops
  • Routine interface with clients and participate in client meetings
  • Responsible for all project control deliverables to client as required by the contract
  • Collaboration with Finance/ Accounting on financial reporting
  • Responsible for all internal project control deliverables and regional reporting
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and adherence to internal controls and procedures.
  • Facilitate change management workshops
  • Other tasks as required including but not limited to training, general administration support etc.

Local Requirements

  • Location: Mozambique
  • Position is for a site assigned Project Control lead on a major project
  • Will be responsible to manage and lead the Project Control requirements on the Project
  • Will be the main Project Controls Interface with the Client.  Will be required to manage and communicate effectively with the Client
  • Will be the main Project Control Interface with our Subcontractors on site.
  • Will be required to fully understand the contract and contract requirements for reporting, progress measurement, and change management
  • Will be required to fully understand internal reporting requirements and generate the required reports
  • Required to be a problem solver who will interact on a daily basis with Project Director and Construction Manager to evaluate progress of work on the job to identify areas which productivity needs to be addressed
  • Will be required to work closely with Project Director to price and evaluate impacts of changed working conditions before Change Order requests are submitted to the client for review
  • Will be required to set-up, implement, update, and maintain our progress management system and reporting for the project
  • Will be required to set-up, implement, update, and maintain schedule for the project
  • Wil be required to set-up and update on a regular basis all required reports for our Client, this includes but is not limited to weekly reports, monthly reports etc.
  • Will be required to track all projects costs and help forecast final project costs
  • Will be required to accurately forecast and predict revenue and cost, on a monthly basis, until project completion

Qualifications

  • Quantity Surveying or Engineering Diploma/ Degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of relevant EPC experience in the Oil & Gas / Energy / Petrochemical Industry
  • Theoretical and specialized working knowledge with Primavera (P6)
  • Equivalent years of experience with Cost Control, Scheduling and Forecasting
  • Leading Project Controls team at least 5 years
  • Working knowledge of different contract forms such as FIDIC, NEC etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in MS applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Familiar with JDE or similar
