MIS, LDA is a newly incorporated company in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, with focus in distribution of high-quality edible products that meet the diverse needs of consumers across Mozambique. As we pursue the next level of excellency, we are presented with the need to re-enforce our sales team with a dynamic and results-oriented Sales Manager to drive sales growth and expansion of our brand in-country and in the region.
Job Summary:
The Sales Manager (SM) will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities within the Mozambican market. The role involves strategizing, planning, and executing business development initiatives to increase market share, boost sales revenue, and enhance brand presence. The SM will work closely with sales, marketing, and distribution teams to ensure a sustainable competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify new business opportunities, trends, and potential gaps in the FMCG sector;
Analyze competitors and develop strategies to gain a competitive edge in the market;
Gather and interpret customer and market insights to adapt the business strategy.
Strategy Development:
Develop and implement a business development strategy aimed at driving growth and profitability for the company;
Identify new product categories, distribution channels, or geographic regions for expansion;
Plan and execute market entry strategies in alignment with the company’s overall business goals.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including distributors, retailers, government agencies, and customers;
- Negotiate and manage contracts with new partners and clients, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes;
- Collaborate with internal departments (sales, marketing, logistics, etc.) to ensure smooth implementation of strategies.
Sales Growth & Revenue Generation:
Drive the sales pipeline by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and partnerships;
Develop sales strategies to enhance product distribution and increase sales in key regions;
Monitor and report on performance metrics to ensure targets are being met;
Brand Development & Marketing Support:
Support marketing campaigns and brand initiatives that contribute to business growth;
Collaborate with the marketing team to create awareness and develop strategies for increasing brand visibility;
Ensure consistent communication of the brand’s value proposition to the target audience.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and motivate a cross-functional team, including sales and marketing personnel, to ensure the successful execution of business development plans;
- Provide ongoing coaching and training to team members to enhance performance and capabilities.
Financial Oversight:
- Monitor business development budgets and ensure effective allocation of resources;
- Prepare and manage regular reports and presentations for senior management regarding the progress of business development activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus;
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, preferably within the FMCG sector;
- Proven track record of driving growth and revenue generation in competitive markets;
- Strong understanding of the Mozambican market and its dynamics within the FMCG industry;
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic business development plans;
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment;
- Fluency in both Portuguese and English (spoken and written) is required;
- Ability to travel within Mozambique and in the region as necessary.
