Senior project engineer

Our Client is a prestigious company operating in the Oil & Gas sector.

FUNCTION

The job holder is responsible for the development and execution of special projects in support of the Mozambique LNG Project. Projects typically involve capital expenditures ranging from USD 1.0 million to USD 50 million and are executed with both local and international contractors. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from pre-FEED studies through to handover to operations, including FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Responsibilities include launching and managing pre-FEED and FEED studies in compliance with project governance and alignment with internal and external stakeholders; preparing the statement of requirements and complete technical dossiers for calls for tenders and managing the tendering process in close coordination with the Contracts & Procurement (C&P) function until Final Investment Decision (FID); coordinating and leading technical, coordination and progress meetings with contractors, site construction teams, HSE and other stakeholders to ensure execution performance; organizing, leading and participating in technical reviews of project documentation across all phases; managing contractors and execution teams with strict control of scope, schedule, costs, risks and HSE performance; maintaining and communicating up-to-date project dashboards covering HSE, progress, expenditures, schedule and risks; managing interfaces arising from the local operating environment with flexibility and a proactive approach to change management; ensuring close monitoring of projects during the construction phase with support from on-site supervision teams; identifying and mobilizing support from HQ, OneTech and corporate entities and organizing governance-required project reviews; acting as the primary point of contact for assigned projects with internal stakeholders including management, construction, contract engineering, legal, cost control and internal clients; and preparing and consolidating the annual budget for assigned projects.

Requisitos

• Degree or Diploma qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in Oil & Gas projects;
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Project Engineer, with strong autonomy in project execution, a pragmatic mindset, and a delivery-oriented approach, focusing on solutions rather than constraints;
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in parallel within a matrix organization;
• Demonstrated ability to foster team spirit through empathy and collaboration, while maintaining high standards and zero complacency, particularly in HSE and quality matters;
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills are required;
• Strong communication and synthesis skills, with an organized, dynamic approach, openness, and strong listening abilities;
• Living in the local area of the job will be an advantage.
