Summary:
Coordinate and supervise all drilling activities, ensuring the quality of geological data, operational efficiency and compliance with the technical and QA/QC standards established by the project.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise diamond drilling activities, ensuring compliance with work plans, deadlines and safety standards.
- Manage and organise all drilling-related information, ensuring its integrity, traceability and availability.
- Analyse, validate and verify drilling data, ensuring the identification of potential errors before they are entered into the database.
- Conduct QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) analyses of laboratory results, identifying inconsistencies and proposing corrective actions.
- Participate in and guide the geological and geotechnical description of drill core samples (core logging).
- Develop, review and propose continuous improvements to operational procedures, aiming to increase efficiency, data quality and project productivity.
- Provide technical support, guidance and coaching to junior geologists and field technicians.
- Ensure compliance with the environmental, health and safety standards applicable to operations.
- Prepare periodic technical reports on the progress of drilling activities and data quality.
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents and accidents in accordance with safety regulations.
- Contribute suggestions for improvement to operational and field processes.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Geology or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in mineral exploration projects.
- Proven experience in coordinating diamond drilling programmes.
- Experience in graphite exploration projects is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of geological data management and validation.
- Experience in using databases; knowledge of MS Access is an advantage.
- Experience in the geological and geotechnical description of drill core samples.
- Strong critical analysis and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) skills.
- Valid driving licence (category B).
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
