Purpose of Job

To lead the end-to-end execution of the Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP) and oversee a portfolio of Social Investment (SI) Projects. The Specialist Community Development will be responsible for ensuring that affected households transition from displacement or impact to sustainable economic independence. Will also be responsible to implement a wide range of SI projects, with focus given to value chain development in agriculture, fisheries, livestock and overall Economic Development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct the end-to-end execution of the Livelihood Restoration Plan, ensuring all impacted households achieve measurable socio-economic graduation in strict compliance with IFC Performance Standards and Sasol’s internal guidelines.
  • Lead the technical design of agricultural, fisheries, and livestock value chains, transitioning community subsistence activities into market-linked enterprises that integrate with regional supply chains.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of Social Investment (SI) infrastructure and development projects – from resource allocation and vendor management to budget control and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) compliance.
  • Manage complex relationships with community leadership, local authorities, and third-party partners to align expectations and protect company interests within the operational areas.
  • Utilize verification techniques and tools to monitor project progress, manage scope changes, and provide data-driven reporting to management on socio-economic impact and budgetary performance.
  • Execute rigorous internal and external reporting, budget verification, and impact evaluation using project management tools to ensure transparency, financial accuracy, and flawless progress tracking.

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development, Agrarian Economics, Rural Engineering or related area.

Working Experience

Minimum 6+ years relevant experience in social development and sustainability, with strong skills in social investment and value chain development.
