The Team Leader plays a key role in shaping how potential clients perceive Control Risks’ professionalism and capability. They are responsible for setting and upholding the highest standards of team presentation, conduct and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Co-ordinating the direction, management and daily activity of the team.
- Ensuring full compliance with company SOPs, policies and doctrine.
- Overseeing operational and training standards in collaboration with the Training Manager.
- Support mission planning for all tasks directed by the Operations Manager.
- Deliver professional operation briefs to both team members and clients as required.
Task and Responsibilities
- To understand and demonstrate competence in Control Risks’ Standard Operating Procedures and personal skills.
- Strong client etiquette and discipline, with adherence to Control Risks’ low-profile approach.
- Good understanding of current threats and key security issues in Mozambique.
- Proficiency in vehicle and dismounted contact management, including immediate action drills.
- Advanced First Aid skills, with the ability to apply them effectively under pressure.
- Competent navigation skills, including map reading, compass use, and GPS operation.
- Proficient in operating all communications systems, both vehicle-mounted and handheld.
- Fully conversant of and compliant with Rules of Engagement and Use of Force.
- Maintain competence through regular formal assessments.
Management Responsibilities
- Deliver certified instruction in all relevant operational and medical team requirements in accordance with current Control Risks training directives.
- Ensure the team maintains professionalism, appropriate client etiquette, discipline and presentation.
- Oversee effective team administration, including vehicle maintenance, equipment management and accountability, and timely completion of reports and returns.
Operational Responsibilities
- Support risk assessments and operational planning.
- Issue orders to team members and brief clients in accordance with SOPs as required.
- Conduct venue and route recces and produce detailed reports.
- Command the team and provide direction to clients when necessary.
- Deliver emergency medical care and primary health support.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 12 months APT experience.
- Minimum 8 years military or police experience.
- Minimum 2 years commercial experience in a hostile environment.
- Fluent in English.
- Immediate availability for deployment (no notice period).
Preferred Requirements
- Experience managing operations for O&G clients.
- Experience managing local security/guard forces.
- Experience working for Control Risks in Mozambique.
- Fluent in Portuguese.
Qualifications and Specialist Skills
- Candidates from countries where English is not the official language must provide proof of language proficiency (dated within the last 2 years) based on the British Council Language Exam board.
- Valid, in-date SIA Frontline Close Protection Certificate, accredited by OfQual.
- Valid, in-date FPOS-I Level 4 and/or FREC Level 3 certificate.
- Police Certificate/ DBS or CRB check.
- Military service records.
- HECPO qualification preferred.
