Our Client is a multinational company operating in the energy sector.

FUNCTION

Reporting to the Biodiversity Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, developing, and managing the actions of the Biodiversity Action Plan related to the conservation of fauna, flora, and terrestrial ecosystem services, ensuring compliance with stakeholder requirements (lenders, Mozambican regulatory authorities, the company’s biodiversity policies and commitments, and the expectations of conservation organisations and NGOs). The responsibilities include supporting the management, fine-tuning, and implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan, including the offset programme; maintaining schedules and monitoring deliverables related to biodiversity management; supporting the planning and mobilisation of biodiversity-related surveys and actions; contributing to the development, review, and implementation of Biodiversity Management Plans and Procedures; preparing and updating technical content for publication on the Project’s website; keeping abreast of legislation, technical information, and best practices in biodiversity and natural environmental management; promoting the company’s Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Policy; and organising the interface with partners, contractors, and other stakeholders on biodiversity matters.

Requisitos

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Agronomy, Natural Sciences, Ecology, Biology, Biodiversity, or related fields;
  • Specialisation in Agronomy and/or wetland ecosystems will be an advantage;
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge to practical work requirements;
  • Autonomy to work in dynamic and fast-paced environments;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders (academics, institutes, NGOs);
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural contexts and with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (knowledge of French will be an advantage);
  • Availability for regular field trips to Afungi and, when required, international travel;
  • Mozambican nationality is mandatory.
