The Key Purpose of this role is to provide a specialised and effective training and development service & solution to the Packaging team, focusing on skills acquisition and performance.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The key accountabilities for this role include but are not restricted to:

1. Initiate the Training & Development Process

  • Get relevant input for training buckets from team room discussions, ITF, annual training plan, and other problem-solving discussions (e.g., 5Why’s, abnormality reports, walk about).

  • Collaborate with People Manager and Training Specialist regarding activities on site.

  • Engage with L&D Specialist regarding suitable solutions where training does not exist or is not part of the Annual Training Calendar.

  • Consolidate departmental training needs by reviewing L&D inputs (e.g., PDP) as input to the annual LNA / budgeting process.

  • Implement training needs analysis and facilitate development of best practice.

2. Prepare for Training

  • Coordinate training logistics and ensure relevant presenters and candidates are present.

  • Request Purchase Orders from NOCC L&D Services team for external training as per the signed-off LNA.

  • Obtain approval from Zone L&D Specialist for costs not included in the LNA.

3. Implement the Learning Process

  • Execute the 8-step SOP process, use SOPs as training aids, track training progress, identify gaps, and ensure Line Managers update SOP documents.

  • Draw on expertise of SMEs to run learning programmes.

  • Ensure all training completed is captured in Training Bucket and registers are recorded via NOCC L&D Services.

  • Adapt training programmes to team/plant needs (e.g., split programmes into shorter sessions).

  • Conduct quality assurance of Visual Boards with Line Managers/HODs.

4. Evaluate Training Effectiveness

  • Complete Level 1 evaluations for formal training, analyse results, and develop improvement actions.

  • Apply recognised evaluation processes and improve training programmes based on results.

5. Monitor & Support SKAP

  • Assist Line Managers in developing annual SKAP plans.

  • Monitor weekly/monthly adherence to SKAP plans.

  • Support Line Managers in scheduling formative and summative assessments.

  • Identify SME Assessors and ensure an adequate pool of assessors in the plant.

  • Administer CAP Management system, ensuring results are captured and quality assured.

6. Identify Training Solutions for the Future Pipeline

  • Conduct monthly trainee check-ins and align training to planned training buckets.

  • Ensure Apprentice training solutions are included in the training bucket.

  • Coordinate Learnership Programmes.

  • Coordinate AB InBev training requirements (e.g., VPO).

7. Reporting

  • Ensure relevant KPIs are reported weekly/monthly.

  • Share and communicate progress with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively in teams and communicate clearly.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Relevant Technical Qualification / Diploma (L&D Practitioner tertiary qualification desirable).

  • Training: 2–4 months on-the-job training.

  • Experience: 3–5 years in a Manufacturing environment.
