JSI/WE is seeking a Training Specialist for the National Youth Institute’s (INJ) upcoming Eu Sou Capaz Project. This regional initiative – to be implemented in Mozambique jointly with the Ministry of Labor, Gender, and Social Action (MTGAS) and the INJ – aims to increase girls’ and women’s educational attainment and earning, and to strengthen institutional capacity to implement gender equality policies. This position is contingent upon an award from the INJ
- The Training Specialist is a consultancy position based in Maputo and will report to the Team Lead. The Training Specialist will oversee the coordination of all training activities in support of the project. They will be responsible for the identification of training needs, designing and implementing training, monitoring conduct of various trainings, and building the capacity of local partners and stakeholders. These responsibilities will be carried out in close collaboration with project partners, including INJ and MTGAS, and the project’s Team Lead, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, and Community Engagement Specialist
Duties
- Provide technical assistance to MTGAS and INJ counterparts
- Work in collaboration with project partners in identifying existing training capabilities and training needs related to the range of essential services of the project
- Design appropriate training activities, including the development of curricula and modes of instructional methodologies
- Collaborate with the project’s Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist to develop tools to assess effectiveness of training activities
- Develop and implement training programs that are competency-based and participatory, based on principles of adult learning, and provide high quality training assistance
- Oversee the writing, editing, and final preparation of training materials, documents and reports associated with training activities
- Identify additional potential trainers and conduct training of trainers to expand the pool of capable resources
- Oversee the regular updating of training packages and resource materials
- Assist the project team and partners in developing a training and capacity building strategy
- Build local capacity in curriculum development, training standards, and guidelines through collaboration with INJ, MTGAS, and local partners
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Team Lead from time to time
Requisites
- Master’s degree in pedagogy, psychology, or educational sciences
- Minimum of 8 years of experience designing training packages and acting as trainer of trainers in social and behavior change communications programs in the context of sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and young women
- Knowledge of the institutional, social, and cultural reality of Mozambique preferred
- Excellent communication skills. Fluency in Portuguese and English is required
