Activities Interface Management
- Act as the primary focal point for all technical interfaces between civil/structural teams and other disciplines (electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, HSE, QA/QC, logistics, etc.).
- Proactively coordinate and facilitate communication between internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of objectives and smooth project execution.
- Lead and organise interface meetings, ensuring that issues are identified early, tracked, and resolved efficiently.
- Oversee the management of interface-related documentation, ensuring traceability of decisions and actions.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential conflicts or overlaps between disciplines, promoting a collaborative and solution-oriented environment.
- Supervise contractual interfaces, including modifications, deviations, non-conformities, and concession requests, in close collaboration with project and contractor teams. Technical and Operational Leadership
- Lead and coordinate all civil and structural activities on site, ensuring technical compliance, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Provide advanced technical support to supervision and construction teams, as well as claims, disputes, and correspondence from the EPC contractor.
- Support the evaluation of EPC Contractor work progress.
- Promote and enforce a strong HSE culture across all site activities. Team Leadership and Development
- Manage and develop civil/structural engineering and supervision teams.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration across disciplines. Context and environment
- The project entity is a multinational joint venture with a significant social performance component and is project-financed by high-profile lenders.
- Afungi Site is extremely remote in Northern Mozambique, with unreliable infrastructure and communications.
- The site is subject to mitigation measures for malaria and general security risks.
- Rotational position (4 weeks on 4 weeks off) Accountabilities
- Ensure the technical integrity and compliance of all civil/structural works up to commissioning.
- Supervise all civil/structural teams on site.
- Take responsibility for proactive interface management between disciplines and contractors.
- Report to project management and stakeholders. Qualifications/Experience required
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 12–15 years’ experience managing major industrial projects, ideally in oil & gas or LNG.
- Proven experience in multidisciplinary team management and supervision of complex construction sites.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Portuguese or French is an advantage
- Strong leadership, analytical skills, and decision-making ability in a multicultural, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent HSE culture and risk management awareness.
- Demonstrated skills in interface management and leading interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
