Oil & Gas Environment

Servtec SBM is supporting a major international Oil & Gas environment and is looking for a results-driven HSE Superintendent to oversee and enforce the highest Health, Safety & Environmental standards across operational activities. This is a site-based rotation role, requiring strong leadership, strategic oversight and performance drive.

THIS IS A FIELD LEADERSHIP ROLE – NOT AN ADMIN ROLE.

We are looking for a FIELD LEADER with strong presence, high standards and zero compromise on safety. You will be expected to challenge, influence and act – every day.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, HSE or relevant technical discipline;
  • Minimum 7+ years in Oil & Gas / Petroleum industry in an HSE role (operations/projects/construction environments);
  • Proven experience as HSE Supervisor / Superintendent on industrial or onshore sites;
  • Solid knowledge of HSE operational risks (industrial, logistics, lifting, confined space, working at height, etc.);
  • Strong experience in HSE management systems, procedures and regulatory compliance;
  • Experience conducting risk assessments (JSA, HAZID – HAZOP exposure is a plus);
  • Proven ability to lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis (RCA);
  • Experience in audits, inspections and compliance monitoring;
  • Strong decision-making capability in high-risk and fast-paced environments;
  • Fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and reporting tools.

TECHNICAL HSE EXPERTISE

Good knowledge of:

  • HSE Management Systems;
  • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management);
  • HSE procedures and compliance frameworks.

Familiar with:

  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) standards;
  • Environmental surveys and monitoring methodologies.

Experience with:

  • Environmental data monitoring and analysis;
  • Implementation of HSE Management Systems.

OPERATIONS & LEADERSHIP

Lead and ensure:

  • HSE strategy and compliance across all operations;
  • Supervision of site HSE team and contractors;
  • Regular HSE inspections, audits and field observations.

Drive and implement:

  • Risk management and controls;
  • Permit to Work (PTW) systems;
  • HSE training, toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Monitor and report:

  • HSE performance (KPIs, leading & lagging indicators);
  • HSE alignment with clients, contractors and site teams.

INCIDENT & PERFORMANCE

Oversee:

  • Incident reporting and investigations;
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA);
  • Corrective and preventive actions.

Ensure:

  • Accurate HSE documentation and reporting;
  • Environmental compliance and permits;
  • Continuous improvement of HSE performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enforce HSE standards and procedures on site;
  • Supervise contractor activities and ensure HSE compliance;
  • Support implementation of HSE Management System;
  • Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks and awareness sessions;
  • Monitor environmental and safety performance indicators;
  • Ensure alignment between site teams and HSE requirements;
  • Report HSE performance and issues to management;
  • Promote a strong HSE culture and safe working environment.

ADVANTAGES (STRONG PLUS)

Experience in:

  • Onshore remote site operations (Africa preferred);
  • Oil & Gas major projects;
  • Exposure to major international Oil & Gas operators.

Training / certifications in:

  • EIA methodologies;
  • Environmental monitoring systems;
  • Advanced HSE training programs;
  • NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification (a plus).
