QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Civil Engineering;
- Membership of a recognized professional institution;
- More than 20 years of professional experience;
- At least 20 years of post-qualification experience, of which 15 years must be in team leadership positions;
- At least 15 years of experience in the design and construction of rural paved roads and bridges;
- Proficiency in engineering software such as:
- AutoCAD;
- MicroStation;
- Specialized structural analysis packages.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design Leadership
- Oversee geometric road alignments, structural bridge analysis and drainage systems;
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, such as AASHTO or local transport codes.
2. Team Management
- Mentor and guide engineers;
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams;
- Manage project schedules and billable work hours.
3. Quality & Risk Control
- Perform Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) checks;
- Review design deliverables, engineering calculations and contract plans;
- Identify and manage technical risks associated with designs.
4. Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the main liaison between:
- Clients;
- Contractors;
- Public agencies.
- Address review comments and resolve technical issues.
5. Cost & Contracts
- Prepare project cost estimates;
- Develop material quantities;
- Manage project scopes under Design/Bid/Build or Design/Build frameworks.
