About the Position

Huretek is recruiting experienced Riggers on behalf of its client in Pemba.

The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing and carrying out lifting operations safely at ports, yards, warehouses and project sites, working closely with crane operators and the lifting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select, inspect and prepare rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, hooks, chains and spreader bars.

  • Rig and secure loads correctly before lifting, using appropriate slinging methods for each load.

  • Act as a signalman/banksman, directing crane and forklift operators using hand signals or radio communication.

  • Follow approved lift plans and participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments.

  • Inspect rigging equipment before use and remove damaged equipment from service.

  • Comply with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) rules at all times, keep lifting areas clear and stop work whenever conditions are unsafe.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of proven experience as a Rigger, preferably in ports, oil and gas, construction or heavy logistics.

  • Valid rigging and/or slinger-signaller certificate.

  • Good knowledge of lifting equipment, load weights, centre of gravity and safe slinging methods.

  • Solid understanding of HSE procedures and safe lifting practices.

  • Physically fit, comfortable working at heights and outdoors, and available for shift work.

  • Disciplined, safety-conscious and able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability to read and write in Portuguese. Basic English is an advantage.

  • Candidates from Pemba or Cabo Delgado are preferred.
