A Karingani Game Reserve (KGR) pretende recrutar um (1) English Language Tutor and School Teacher.

Location: Remote setting (Game Reserve)
Massingir, Gaza-Mozambique

Karingani Game Reserve (KGR) is a large private game reserve (150,000 ha) in southern Mozambique. We are looking for an innovative, experienced and qualified English Language Teacher to join our team. The role is to teach English to non and beginners using effective methods. The teacher should be able to offer other subjects at primary and high school using relevant, challenging, and significant approaches based on the Cambridge Curriculum. We are looking for a person who is fluent in Xhangana
The Teacher reports to the Operations Manager and Head of School and ensures students make progress through their learning experience, to maximize each student’s achievements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an education plan and deliver English lessons to adults;
  • Always ensure the safety and well-being of children;
  • Make lesson plans, set up and prepare materials for learning activities;
  • Participate in classroom daily routines and jobs as required by management (e.g. support individual children in a large group time, collect documentation information for anecdotal notes and developmental assessments, assist with parent-teacher conferences, etc.);
  • The ability to offer higher level subjects will be an added advantage (e.g. Geography, Business Studies);
  • The ability to teach Portuguese/Changana is a strong advantage;
  • Use data systems effectively to track student performance and prompt early and suitable interventions;
  • Plan and implement a variety of learning engagements that promote inquiry, creativity and critical thinking;
  • Provide students with learning experiences that are individually differentiated to accommodate a range of abilities and learning styles;
  • Authentically assess, record, track and report on the progress of all students, using a range of monitoring and assessment strategies;
  • Communicate necessary programme information to all stakeholders, including parents;
  • Display and model professionalism, and organize proper school schedules accordingly;
  • Work to stay current of professional best practice in the teaching and learning of Cambridge Curriculum;
  • Manage at least one extracurricular activity per term/semester;
  • Any other duties assigned by the Head of School.

Skills & Experience:

  • The ideal teacher should have proven experience in teaching English to beginners;
  • Experience teaching adults is an asset;
  • Bachelor’s degree in education (English) or other teaching qualification from a recognised institution with ana English major;
  • Understanding and experience of education and educational standards using the IGCSE curriculum and beyond Mozambique;
  • At least 3 years’ experience teaching the Cambridge Curriculum or other similar curriculum;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to interact well and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues within a diverse and pluralistic society;
  • A team player with the ability and willingness to develop effective skills and attitudes in other adults, including colleagues;
  • Commitment to inspiring and motivating students regarding their personal growth and academic attainment;
  • Fluency in English/Changana and Portuguese;
  • Able to appreciate diverse cultural contexts and perspectives and use them to enrich the educational experiences of the students;
  • A team player who is flexible to change roles to meet goals and demands of the profession;
  • Immediately available to join the team.
