Our Client is a multinational company operating in the Energy Sector.

FUNCTION

The Environmental Site Officer will be responsible to support environmental licensing activities at field level (organization of public participation meetings, mobilization of authorities and consultants to site, for the purpose of environmental licensing, etc.); monitor Project EMP implementation; prepare daily environmental performance and projects progress briefings as required; conduct daily site environmental inspections; assist site environmental manager in driving environmentally sound practices across site; participate and provide inputs in incidents investigations; identify environmental deviations and non-conformances and propose and help implement corrective plans; participate in and provide inputs for internal & external audits; support implementation of environmental awareness programs; interface with different Project Managers on environmental compliance / performance across all work sites; prepare daily environmental inventories and reports; identify and highlight key environmental compliance issues across various working sites;provide analytical reasoning for environmental data trends; provide field guidance to contractors and subcontractors on company environmental compliance requirements/expectations; work with contractors to ensure environmental management programs/ systems align with applicable environmental performance / compliance requirements (regulatory, best practice and corporate).

Requisitos

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant Environmental Management experience required;
  • Understanding of environmental issues/hazards in green field construction areas;
  • Energy sector experience;
  • Experience with renewable energies, particularly hydropower environmental monitoring;
  • Ability to interface with and recommend environmental improvement plans and actions to Project Managers;
  • Awareness and knowledge of broader E&S function and accountabilities, including Social Performance and Community Relations;
  • Ability to work effectively with technical, HSS, social performance and community relations teams;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • English and Portuguese language proficiency;
  • Nyungwe language proficiency would be an advantage
