OPERATIONS GEOLOGIST
ABOUT THIS OFFER
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise geological operations of a rig for exploration, appraisal, and development wells on a daily basis.
- Oversee well preparation, operations and acquisition program follow-up, coordination and supervision of contracted services and performances, real-time data QA/QC, and basic real-time petrophysical interpretation and post-well analysis.
- Actively contribute to well preparation processes, including document preparation and coordination with other teams, especially for preliminary/prognosis pore pressure profiles and data acquisition programs.
- Ensure strict application and respect of HSE rules and procedures, participate in safety systems, and report all incidents, accidents, or potentially dangerous situations observed.
- Maintain updated HSE and medical certificates and complete all required HSE trainings.
- Participate in safety culture development within the operational team onshore and offshore.
- Contribute to the implementation, integration, and interpretation of real-time detection techniques for operational safety.
- Co-organize risk assessments, pre-job meetings, and review procedures, especially for specific operations.
- Collect and share safety alerts, incidents, and accident reports from offshore crews and service companies.
- Conduct HSE and technical annual visits/audits on service companies’ units (offshore) and bases (onshore).
- Supervise geological operations for one rig, occasionally two, from office and occasionally onsite.
- Prepare, follow up, and perform post-well studies/reports of complex wells, including HP/HT wells and those with narrow drilling windows.
- Work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural context, ensuring strict containment of acquisition costs through good preparation and flawless execution.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Master’s degree or equivalent (Level 7).
EXPERIENCE
- At least 3–5 years in operations geology, with at least 2 years as a wellsite geologist.
- Deep offshore drilling experience, including HPHT and complex wells, required.

- Advanced geosteering capability;
- Pore pressure and geomechanics understanding;
- Robust data acquisition planning for LWD, wireline, and sampling programs;

- Certification degree in the supervision of Operations Geology as per relevant requirements.

- Logging while drilling physics and use (open hole and cased hole);
- Mudlogging physics and use;
- Pore pressure principles and estimation;
- Deep offshore drilling technologies;
