Job Description

At Eni, we are looking for a Performance Engineer within Eni Rovuma Basin in Maputo, Mozambique. You will be responsible for leading the performance improvement while monitoring and analyzing drilling KPIs with the goal of optimizing efficiency, reducing Non-Productive Time (NPT), and improving cost-effectiveness.

Your employment contract will be managed by Eni International Resources Ltd (EIRL).

Main Responsibilities

KPI Monitoring & Performance Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze drilling Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Non-Productive Time (NPT) against operational benchmarks.
  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis to identify trends, performance gaps, and optimization opportunities.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and dashboards with actionable, data-driven insights.
  • Support drilling management in identifying operational improvement initiatives and performance enhancement strategies.

Performance Improvement & Optimization

  • Develop and implement drilling performance improvement plans using analytical and data-driven methodologies.
  • Collaborate with operational and engineering teams to identify efficiencies and operational best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action plans with internal stakeholders and service companies.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of drilling KPIs across rigs and contractors.

Offset Well & Operational Analysis

  • Analyze offset well data to establish target KPIs, risk models, and performance benchmarks.
  • Utilize historical well performance data to identify lessons learned and optimization opportunities.
  • Contribute to drilling strategy development through predictive analysis and performance modelling.

Data Quality & Reporting

  • Review WellView and operational data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Perform QA/QC processes on drilling data prior to well closeout.
  • Ensure traceability and reliability of operational information for future analysis and reporting purposes.

Cost & Financial Performance Analysis

  • Conduct drilling cost analysis and evaluate cost performance against budget and forecasts.
  • Identify cost variances and recommend strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce cost per meter drilled.
  • Support management in developing financial and operational optimization strategies.

Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Promote and support the implementation of drilling automation technologies and digital performance tools.
  • Lead and encourage the use of official KPI monitoring and analytics software (ID3).
  • Coordinate knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and best practice implementation across drilling operations.

Skills and Experience Required

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of drilling operations including horizontal drilling, drilling fluids, cementing operations, and well drilling activities.
  • Experience across completion and workover operations including well testing (oil & gas), gravel pack, gas lift, submersible pumps, dual completion, perforating techniques, and completion/workover activities.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and systems used for KPI monitoring and drilling performance analysis
  • Understanding of E&P operational workflows and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of drilling digitalization initiatives including real-time monitoring, rig site drilling optimization packages, and rig automation processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
  • Strong experience within Oil & Gas drilling, completions, or drilling fluids operations.
  • Previous experience within drilling performance, well operations, or operational optimization environments preferred.
