Our client in Cabo delgado is looking for a Mining Sorting Operator to join their team within the Mining Sector.
Responsibilities
- Conduct primary sorting of rough gemstones by size, color, clarity, and quality category.
- Identify and separate ruby-bearing material from waste or low-grade stones.
- Classify stones according to company grading standards and internal quality benchmarks.
- Accurately record grading data and production quantities.
- Maintain strict adherence to security protocols and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Work closely with the Secondary Graders and Supervisors to ensure consistency in grading decisions.
- Ensure work area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Report discrepancies, irregularities, or quality concerns immediately to the Supervisor.
- Support stock control and inventory verification when required.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in gemstone sorting, mining, or mineral processing is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of gemstone quality characteristics (color, clarity, size).
- Good eyesight and strong attention to detail.
- High level of honesty and integrity (critical for Sort House roles).
- Ability to work under strict security condition
